My eyes flickered continuously, “Alex” I called in fear as the wolf made to bite him.
“Run away, Anna, I’ll be fine.” Alex said as he brought a lighter from his pocket and fire sparkled.
The wolf back off, and ran away.
“Alex, are you okay.” I rushed to him with concern. “Am…Am okay.” Alex said as he groaned in pain.
“Are you hurt?” I asked with fear.
Then I noticed the deep wound on his forearm. “Oh my God, … Am so sorry.”
“Is okay, by the way what are you doing with the wolf?” He asked.
How on earth am I going to explain that I saw a wolf and thought it was Max.
“Well…I just saw a wolf here, and I was too scared to shout or run.” I answered coyly.
“Oh, I was just in time to save you, I was actually passing by and I saw a wolf leaping towards you and …”
“Thanks a lot, …”
“Am suspecting, that your friend is the …” He paused and peered at me.
“Max, he’s the wolf, the doctor observed that Mr David’s death is caused by a wolf or dog bite, just then, you were attacked by a wolf and…”
“C’mon Alex, maybe a wolf invaded the school, you can’t suspect Max” I said trying not to believe, though it sounded true.
“No, Mr David embarrassed Max in the class, couldn’t it be that Max…”
“That’s not possible, it’s just a coincidence.” I answered curtly.
“Then, what about the “Demon theory.”, you saw him with your own eyes right?”
“Maybe I was just hallucinating.”
“And the wound?” Alex asked and I felt uncomfortable.
“Max isn’t a demon… let’s forget about it.” I seethed and he shrugged. “Time will tell, well am off, bye.” He muttered as he took his bag and left.
I stood like a tree and pondered all what he said.
“And where is Max”

I ran out of the school in human form and panted aloud. This is the first time am running away from a fight. Alex knows my golden secret.
Am afraid of fire, in fact, fire is my greatest enemy.
And what really came into me, I killed that teacher out of anger. Grandma would be pissed. And I would’ve killed Ann, if not for Alex intervention.
I was about entering the Bush, when I saw Ann coming out of the school gate. She was looking depressed and traumatic.
Should I ignore her and go home?
Or should I trail behind her to prevent other wolves from attacking her.
Then, my eyes caught a girl on black walking towards her.
“An imminent danger!” The girl looked dangerous.
What did she wanna do to Ann.

I came out from the school gate looking depressed. It seems someone was looking at me. I looked around and saw Kyra (the mystery girl), walking towards me.
“Nice meeting you again Ann.” She said and smiled.
“Nice meeting you too.” I said dryly.
“You are waiting for your driver?” She asked and I felt embarrassed.
“I don’t have a driver.” I said bitterly.
“Oh, you can actually drive by yourself, where is your car then?” She asked and I felt like smacking her head.
“I don’t have a car.” I rushed the words to hide the embarrassment.
“Oh, I’ll walk you home.” She said and a glimmer of hope sparkled on my face.
That’s exactly what I want.
I need an escort.
Walking home alone is the most dreadful thing.
“Thanks.” I said whimsically and she chuckled.

We’ve walked for over half a miles, discussing random things. She told me she lived in the forest and I considered it quite sad.
“What’s that sound?” I asked in fear as I heard the growling of wolves.
Fear gripped me. “Not again.” I cried and wolves started coming out.
They surrounded us.
“Oh no…” I cried as i looked at the tooth of the cruel looking wolves.
“Stop fidgeting, they are just wolves.” Kyra said without the least ping of fear or panic.
“Look…” I blurted as the wolves started coming forward, showing their 2 inch tooth.
One wolf rushed forward and Kyra looked eye to eye with the wolf making it run, with its tail in between the legs.
Same goes to other wolves and I looked at her in shock.
“How did you do that?” I asked breathlessly.
“They know who i am.” She smiled.
“C’mon, it’s nothing, let’s go.” She nudged.

Incredulous
What the heck, she chased the wolves!
Who is she… Fear flickered and I shook it off. I hope she doesn’t invade my territory.
I turned into wolf and started running home.

Still in my wolf form, I reached home but I saw grandma with a stick at the door.
“Don’t dare enter my house, you son of a Bitch.” She scorned as she shooed me away with the stick.
“What’s wrong grandma?” I asked suddenly changing to human.
“You killed, you kill your teacher, how wicked of you. I put you into school to know what is right or wrong, but you did otherwise. Don’t enter my house again, you are a bastard, go look for your real mom and dad.” She said and shut the door, right at my face.
Tears stung on my eyes, Anger set in, and I turned back to a wolf and ran away, far into a cave

Wow, I went to school the next day and it was as usual.
I wonder why MAX isn’t in school. I kinda miss him.
But I and Alex are getting well along. He told me some things about Yellowstone wolves and he told me the best way to scare them away. I was glad with his explanation. He’s a good friend though and it seems am ….

I stayed in the cave all day, thinking wild. Maybe I should just be a wolf fully and forget about human stuffs.
“Max.” A voice echoed in the cave and I jerked up. And walked menacingly to the source of the sound.
And at the entrance of the cave, I saw her. The strange girl who was with Ann the other day.
I growled angrily and leapt towards her ready to devour her.
But I was amused at the way she dodged every attack I made. “You are really wasting your time MAX” she said and walked around me. I turned into a human and said.
“What do you want?” I asked trying not to be harsh, but it failed.
For an answer, she lean her face closer to mine and made to kiss me but I pushed her away.
“Wolves don’t kiss.” I snorted and started walking out of the cave, looking for a hunt.
“And wolves don’t live in a cage.” She added but I ignored her and walked away but she followed me.
“I guess you are hungry.” She said making me pause.
“I’ll hunt for you.” She replied and before I could say a word, she ran off.
“Come over MAX,.” She shouted afar and I ran to see a big reindeer. She killed it. How?
I took a look at the reindeer and saw a bite on the neck.
I looked at her and she smiled impishly.
“Eat.” She gestured with a grin and I turned to a wolf and started doing justice to the monstrosity of a meal.

After school, I reached home and thank the stars that I wasn’t attacked.
I walked into the house.
“Welcome Ann.” My step mom flashed a smile which was unusual. She has never smiled at me.
Then I saw someone sitting in the living room with an Army uniform.
“Welcome Ann.” My jaw dropped.
“Is this you, Simon.” I jumped on his body and gave him a tremendous hug.
“Ive miss you.” I said as I cradled in his arm.
Don’t think wild.
He’s my elder brother, he joined the forces two years ago and I’ve not seen him since then.
“You finally visited.” I said in between tears.
“Yeah, but I won’t be staying here.” He said and I frowned.
“We came for a wolf hunt, we heard the wolves in this city are outnumbering the humans and a wolf also killed a teacher. So am posted here with my companions to make sure all the harmful animals are eliminated.” He said.
And so be it.
